Cortina d’Ampezzo: between History and the Future
Seventy years separate the Winter Olympics of 1956 and the upcoming ones of 2026. In Cortina, we can still experience
the flair of this small mountain town through historic photos, learning for example, about Toni Sailer, who won gold medals in every alpine ski category, and also seeing structures built for the games that are still maintained with pride by the community. Cortina is surrounded by a ring of noteworthy Dolomite peaks and, apart from her role in the 1956 Olympics, has been the protagonist in several films, novels and happenings both nationally and worldwide.
